'73 Social Sciences

A round of applause to Vincent Louis for successfully rounding-up 30+ of his pioneering Social Science classmates to meet, eat, talk and laugh away the afternoon of 26 September 2013 at the Grand Dorsett Hotel in Subang Jaya. Many in the crowd have not met each other since their graduation in 1973, so the excitement was difficult to hide. It was most touching that a number came from Australia and Sabah came back for the sole reason of reconnecting with friends. There was so much to ask, reminesce and update that a lot of the delicacies paid for was untouched and some of the alumni emailed later that they actually went home hungry. Seven alumni from the class of '74 managed to 'gatecrash' the event but blended unnoticed with everyone, so much so that there was some confusion about senior-junior status. Two representatives from the USM Alumni Liaison Office also joined the occasion.

The joy of rebounding surely showed; the event which was supposed to end at 2.00 pm lingered past schedule. Even approaching 3.00pm, one table was still abuzz with chit-chats from a group which refused to leave...and the joy continued via emails shortly after. The meeting was also a success in recruiting a consistent number of new 'recruits' into the USM Alumni Gateway.
